Entity is a performance that I made in collaboration with dancer Sanni Kriikku and light designer Topias Toppinen. The 15 minute piece is a postdigital creation story that examines the formations and fluctuations of identities in a world filled with virtual environments.

The project started from my experiments with video projections and gauze. The semi-permeable gauze gave spatial possibilities to otherwise “flat” video projections. After a successful demo performance of noise music and digital visualisations, I asked Kriikku and Toppinen to join me to do a collaborative piece with this framework. We expanded the set with 12 par lights and stobe, and put a second video projector to the backside of the projection surface to have more possibilities for when the performer was moving in front or in the back of the gauze. There is also a 90’s surveillance camera that, together with the backside projector, does a mirrored video loopback responding to the performers movements. The narrative and thematic side of the final work was formed in dialogue with technical one.

The piece was performed at Kellariteatteri in june 2017 and was still elaborated to make a video version that was exhibited in runokuvaa 3 exhibition in january 2018.
